Comfort & Bereavement Ministry
The Comfort and Bereavement Ministry is a group of Parishioners who attend Funeral Masses to give comfort and support to our fellow Parishioners.
Some of our members meet with the bereaving family to extend the sympathy of our Church community and to encourage the family to help plan the Mass by choosing the readings and hymns.
The families are asked if a family member or members would like to participate in the Mass by reciting the readings and bringing up the gifts at the Offertory. If the family is uncomfortable doing this, a committee member volunteers.
The Hospitality Committee works toward instilling a feeling of belonging, ownership, and community among new and existing parishioners.
The Hospitality Committee sponsors monthly events which give parishioners an opportunity immediately after each mass is celebrated to enjoy refreshments and chat. It is a wonderful opportunity to build relationships and foster a greater sense of community within our parish.
Members join the Ushers in greeting parishioners at the door before masses they attend.
A committee member personally welcomes new parishioners upon registration, and ensures they are provided with a package containing a church directory, a house blessing card (blessed by Father), and a small bottle of holy water with which to bless their home.
The Hospitality Committee meets as needed at the discretion of its members.
Church of the Assumption Religious Education Programs are committed to a dynamic partnership with parents in the religious education of their children. Always looking for a few good boys and their parents to join our Pack. We are a Pack on the move and we've only got space for a couple of boys in each Den (year group).
We are selective about who joins in that we seek boys and their parents who will live by the Law of our Pack; "Promise to Help the Pack Go and the Cub Scout Grow." We seek people who will be a active contributors to the work we do with our youth in our community.
Boys finishing Kindergarten are eligible to join and may begin their Scouting experience with the Pack and may also attend Cub Scout Day Camp in Galloway during the week of July 31, 2006. Boys who are entering 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades may join the Pack.
We are afiliated with Assumption Church in Pomona. Here we have a wonderfully warm parish to call our home and we participate in numerous parish activities throughout the year. The Pack runs the food concession for the Parish Garage Sale in June and the Parish Festival in September. We use our own mess equipment to feed the masses at these parish community events. | more on Scouting
